World Fibromyalgia Awareness Month: Could CBD help?

We are proudly supporting World Fibromyalgia Awareness Month. In this blog post, we take a little look into how CBD could help people with the condition.

So far there has only been a few studies looking into the effectiveness of CBD in treating Fibromyalgia symptoms, but what did the researchers find?

What the researcher’s found

One study suggested that a lack of endocannabinoids (neurotransmitters that bind to cannabinoid receptors in the body) may be the root cause of chronic pain illnesses, including migraines and Fibromyalgia.

Researchers believe that CBD may correct this deficiency, which would explain why so many Fibro-sufferers reach for CBD to alleviate their pain.

The current treatments being offered to Fibro patients simply aren’t good enough, so there is an enormous financial incentive for investment in this area to find treatments that truly help to relieve painful symptoms.

There is an abundance of information on the general benefits of CBD which may contribute to the overall well-being and comfort of those suffering from Fibromyalgia.

Research has found that people with Fibromyalgia have abnormally low levels of the hormones serotonin, noradrenaline and dopamine in their brains.

Based on findings from several studies, CBD may improve relief for those suffering from hormonal imbalance.

Sleep disturbance is one of the most frustrating and difficult symptoms of Fibromyalgia.

There has been lots of promising research into CBD’s potential as a sleep aid. If CBD can help you drift off and get a more comfortable night’s rest, this may have a positive knock-on effect of your overall well-being.

CBD is also a natural anti-inflammatory. Researchers are optimistic of the potential for CBD drugs to be developed to help with a whole host of conditions.

“Inflammation and oxidative stress are intimately involved in the genesis of many human diseases…CBD would seem to be a promising starting point for further drug development given its anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory actions on immune cells… George W Booz , Free Radical Biology & Medicine

We were over the moon when a Fibro-sufferer won our recent Instagram competition.

“The stay active cream is helpful with Fibro pains, it’s not as overwhelming as most heat lotions and just takes the edge off without feeling uncomfortable” – Heather
