Its World Environment Day and we wanted to take the opportunity to talk about our future plans. Here at CUBID, we believe in full transparency and want to share every step of the journey with you all.
Currently our packaging is made from PET plastic, the reason we chose this is because this plastic is recyclable and can be used over and over again.
Wanting to use a sustainable material we recognised that an increasing number of PET plastic products are made from recycled PET which is good news for the planet.
After looking into this further we found 60% of PET plastic bottles in the household waste stream are now being collected for recycling. This is a much better percentage than previous years, however we realised that regardless of our packaging being recyclable, we are putting the ownership on the consumers and their local recycling services rather than taking full ownership ourselves. This means 40% is still being treated as a single use plastic and we want to avoid adding to this!
We are now currently researching more ethical and environmentally friendly packaging options such as sugar cane for both our bottles and labels. This is very important to us and we want to make sure that we are doing everything we can to be as environmentally friendly as possible for the planet that we all share.
