Whether you are self-quarantining or practicing social distancing, we are all adjusting to a new normal amid the coronavirus pandemic.
While this is a stressful time, there are a few things we can do to look after our physical and emotional needs.
Not only can these self-care practices help us cope with isolation and stress, but they can also keep us feeling our best during this tough time.
Keep a routine
Keeping a routine is essential in times of upheaval. Here are our top three tips on how to keep your routine regular and your mind and body in sync…
- Keeping your bedtime and waking up time consistent will keep your body and mind in time.
- Getting dressed each morning, chaining out of what you’ve slept in, is also important. Even if you change into different pyjamas or loungewear, this will allow you to feel that you are ready for the day.
- Continue with your healthy meal choices and keep meal times the same as they would be on a regular day. If you need some healthy recipes to keep you occupied, head over to our recipes section.
Keeping all of the above consistent will allow you to ease straight back into your normal life when the time comes.
Stay busy and keep your mind active
For some, it is possible to work from home. For others it is not possible, either way, there’s never been a better time to start a new project or challenge.
Trade your commute time for learning a new skill or get away from screens and read a book or a magazine, this can help you escape for a bit.
Take some time to write down how you want to spend your day. Creating and sticking to a new routine will give you a sense of order and normality, this will also be a huge benefit if you have children. Decide on your new routine and make sure you build in time to do things you enjoy.
Keep your body active too
It’s recommend that while in lockdown, we maintain a certain level of physical activity in our day to day lives for our mental and physical health. This should not be put on hold because we are restricted to our houses.
Doing exercise helps maintain your physical wellbeing and also taps into the psychological benefit of exercise to fight depression and other mental health issues.
Why not incorporate CBD into your workout?
It was recently reported that cannabinoid receptors may impact motivation levels, so taking CBD oil drops pre-workout could give you that extra push you need.
Remain calm
Social distancing and self-isolation can be really hard to deal with. It’s not normal! But it is totally normal to feel anxious, frustrated or bored in these times, and if you’re worried about the effect it will have on your mental health, you are not alone. Managing stress and anxiety is one of the many reasons more and more people are turning to CBD.
Serotonin, is associated with positive feelings and mood enhancement, and when stressed, serotonin levels are reduced.
‘The happy hormone’ is one of the neural systems that CBD interacts with through the endocannabinoid system.
Cortisol, or ‘the stress hormone’, is also affected by CBD.
